BNN Salutes Small Business

This week, Business News Network features innovative Canadian small businesses, and addresses the challenges they face to be a success. With 48% of Canadians employed by companies with 100 or fewer employees, small businesses mean big business to the Canadian economy. BNN and co-sponsor Bell salute these 1.1 million Canadian businesses with a week of features during Small Business Week, beginning today and airing throughout the week, October 15-19.

BNN’s Small Business Week captures the key steps of the entrepreneurial journey, telling the stories of both seasoned and budding companies. Viewers will learn about these smaller operations, will be able to ask questions, and learn from one another’s mistakes in the small business marketplace.

“Not only do small Canadian businesses create jobs for Canadians, but they also capture the entrepreneurial spirit that has helped build this country,” said Jack Fleischmann, General Manager, BNN. “The 1.1 million small businesses in Canada are a fundamental part of the Canadian economy.”

Beginning on Small Business Week, small businesses can get a boost with Bell’s Salute to Small Business Contest - a chance for businesses to win $25,000 in services to help their business grow. Small business owners, employees and customers can visit bell.ca/wesalutesmallbiz for more details on this contest, and to enter or nominate a business.

“Bell supports small businesses in Canada not just during Small Business Week, but every week of the year,” said Heather Tulk, Senior Vice President Bell Business Markets. “Bell is committed to helping small businesses grow and our Salute to Small Business Contest is just one way that we hope to be able to achieve that objective.”
